The following is an honest review of Love and Other Great Expectations by Becky Dean and my suggested age rating.
Britt Hanson is a classic American girl, with a scholarship and hopes to play soccer in college at UCLA, but now she’s injured. When she’s presented with an opportunity to go to England and win money, she takes it in hopes to pay for school. The competition is a scavenger hunt across England made up of literary classics. Britt soon meets Luke Jackson the bookish British boy, she can’t have help with the clues but she wouldn’t mind the company.
Review of Love and Other Great Expectations
Love & Other Great Expectations by Becky Dean releases June 14th! This is the perfect light hearted read, great for getting you out of a reading slump or something quick for summer.
Some of the characters were kinda stereotypical but I loved the story enough that I got over it. Britt is a bit of a pick me, but she has some character development throughout the book. Luke on the other hand *perfection* still kinda the stereotypical British boy but I still loved his character. It issss a YA novel so I feel like it’s expected.
If you’re a fan of English or classic literature of any kind this is the book for you. The scavenger hunt follows clues about Jane Austen, Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, etc.
