The following is an honest review of For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing and my suggested age rating.
Synopsis of For Your Own Good
Belmont Academy is a school for the elite and rich. Even though it would appear Teddy Crutcher has his life together, especially after winning Teacher of the Year, his personal life is a wreck. To compensate, he channels all his efforts into helping his students. The problem is, his definition of help may involve things some would view as morally gray and others as illegal.
Review of For Your Own Good
I can’t say too much about this book without spoilers but this book was a trip. Teddy as a character/antagonist gave me all the Norman Bates vibes. The story read much like a movie due to the author’s writing and realistic descriptions. I felt like Samantha Downing really knows how to add certain details to a villain to make you hate him/be creeped out the most. For Your Own Good is extremely fast paced and in my opinion, the perfect book to read between longer/heavier ones.
I gave this book 4/5 stars on Goodreads
Suggested Age Rating of For Your Own Good
