The following is an honest review of All These Bodies by Kendare Blake and my suggested age rating.
Synopsis of All These Bodies
The Bloodless murders: 16 deaths across the midwest in the summer of 1958, with no explanation. The victims are found with all their blood drained from them and no where to be seen. On September 19th the Carlson family is murdered and discovered dead in their farmhouse in Minnesota. There are no survivors except young Marie Catherine Hale. She’s found covered in blood, first they think she’s a victim then the murderer. Accused of a series of murders she claims she didn’t commit, Marie will only confide in Micheal Jensen: son of the local sheriff. Aspiring to have a career in journalism, Micheal would’ve never believed such a large story would become his to tell. Micheal must decide what is the truth and what is a lie to solve the biggest mystery of their time.
Review of All These Bodies
I really loved the time period this took place in. It was so different from most of the contemporary mystery books out today. We also jump right into the story which makes the story seem extremely fast paced. I was constantly guessing and trying to piece things together. The one thing I didn’t enjoy was the “supernatural” element. Going in I didn’t know this was going to have vampire themes/vibes and I think if I would’ve known I might’ve enjoyed it more.
I still recommend you read this if you are a fan of YA mystery. It was very interesting and a good book for this time of year.
I gave All These Bodies 3/5 stars on Goodreads.
Age Rating of All These Bodies
