The following is an honest review of Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson and my suggested age rating.
Elisabeth has been raised in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries among sorcery and magical grimoires. However, all her life she has been taught that sorcerers are evil and the enemy. Elisabeth hopes one day to become a warden protecting and keeping the magic under control.
All her hopes of becoming a warden die after she is blamed for interfering and causing a tragic accident. Because of this Elisabeth is pulled from the one place she’s ever known and sent to the capital preparing to stand trial. To make matters worse she is stuck with her worst enemy the sorcerer Nathanial Thorn.
As Elisabeth grows closer to Nathanial she learns that everything is not what it seems. She must set aside her differences and save the Great Libraries and the world from erupting into flames.
Review of Sorcery of Thorns
This was beautifully written novel and I wish it was a series so bad! If you are fan of the Hogwarts library you will love this book. I loved that Elisabeth was a novel loving girl who also was a strong female character.
I felt like Sorcery of Thorns was a bit slow at some parts and I wanted more from the Epilogue. But it made up for it in world building and character development. Margaret Rogerson wrote this in such a descriptive lyrically way but it didn’t feel overwhelming at all.
If you are on the fence about reading this I highly suggest picking it up it was extremely enthralling and beautiful.
“You’ve reminded me to live. Thats worth having something to lose.”
I gave this 3.75/5 stars on Goodreads.
Age Rating of Sorcery of Thorns
I am giving Sorcery of Thorns an age rating of 14 and up. This book contains little language but has many dark elements such as demons, dark magic, as well as magic which may bother some people.
