The following is an honest review of I Wanna Be Where You Are by Kristina Forest and my suggested Age Rating.
Synopsis of I Wanna Be Where You Are
When Chloe Pierce’s mom refuses to grant her permission to audition for a spot at the conservatory of her dreams, she has to find a way to audition in secret. Chloe decides that while her mom is away on vacation she will road trip by herself to the nearest audition. If she wasn’t nervous before she is now. Chloe’s annoying neighbor Eli has insisted on tagging along or he’ll tell Chloe’s mom about the audition. This isn’t how Chloe imagined her trip going but how bad can it be? With Eli and his smelly dog Geezer, a good playlist, and butterflies in her stomach this is a trip that will change Chloe’s life. But, will it be for better or for worse?
I loved this book! It was the cutest road trip read. Seeing Chloe grow individually as well as her relationship with her mom and Eli grow was so cute and heartwarming.
Chloe faces many difficulties throughout her trip. However, she soon realizes if she believes in herself and she surrounds herself with people that believe in her that there’s nothing to be afraid of.
I also really enjoyed the road trip aspect of this book: sleeping in hotels, stopping at rest stops, and jamming to your favorite music. This is the perfect spring/summer read! I love the author as well! She was a former dancer and you could tell she wrote something very close to her heart.
