Synopsis of An Ivy Hill Christmas
Richard Brockwell wants nothing more than to stay in his London townhouse for Christmas. However, when his mother threatens to stop funding his London life unless he comes home, he’s left with no choice. You could say Richard is spoiled, as he does come from a prominent family, but in all reality…. home at Ivy Hill is full of reminders of a family secret that constantly haunts him. On top of it all, his mother insists that he marries soon, specifically Arabella Awdry. He has no intention of marrying anyone, let alone her. Although she is much lovelier than he remembered. She also has no intention of marrying and wants nothing to do with him. But everyone knows the holidays have a way of either bringing people together… or pushing them apart.
Review of An Ivy Hill Christmas
I have been on a historical fiction kick and was craving a historical Christmas novel. My mom read An Ivy Hill Christmas a few years back and suggested this one. I’m so glad I decided to pick this one up it was everything I was hoping for. This book takes place in the 1800s and is full of nostalgic Christmas traditions.
Our two main characters Arabella and Robert reminded me so much of Elizabeth and Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. They’re both stubborn, they know what they want and don’t give in to peer pressure. Even though this was a short book I appreciated the slow-burn aspect of their romance. My only complaint is that the epilogue is where all the loose ends were tied, and that part felt slightly rushed.

I’m giving An Ivy Hill Christmas an Age Rating of 14 and up. Although this is classified as an adult novel, it is very clean but has mentions of some heavy/adult topics.
