The following is an honest review of This Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede and my suggested age rating.
Synopsis of This Vicious Grace
“Three weddings. Three funerals. Alessa’s gift from the gods is supposed to magnify a partner’s magic, not kill every suitor she touches.”
This is Alessa’s final chance to understand her powers before demons come to destroy her home. With a priest declaring their only hope is killing Alessa. She turns to Dante a mysterious outcast to protect her when her soldiers begin to try to kill her. However, Dante has dark secrets that could corrupt Alessa’s reputation even further. People believe he will be their downfall. Alessa believes Dante is their only hope.
Review of This Vicious Grace
This is Emily Thiede’s debut novel and I think she did a wonderful job. The concept was fascinating, the side characters were entertaining, and the romance was sweet. This Vicious Grace gave me Graceling vibes which I’m obsessed with. My only complaint would be I felt like since this is a debut novel the author was relying on the characters to hold the story together which resulted in the world-building lacking a little bit for me. Overall I loved this story, the characters, the concept, the plot, especially the romance, and am so excited for This Cursed Light.
I loved the enemies to lovers, slow burn, and bodyguard romance, and am excited to learn more about Dante’s character specifically
Age Rating of This Vicious Grace
I’m giving This Vicious Grace an age rating of 14 and up. There is a forbidden romance and some darker elements including lots of talk about death.
